Facebook is my most used social network site. I browse through it via Iphone and Ipad. I have read the terms of service and how Facebook will use my information. It basically states: When you delete IP content, it is deleted in a manner similar to emptying the recycle bin on a computer. However, you understand that removed content may persist in backup copies for a reasonable period of time (but will not be available to others). It seems that even though one can close an account, it is stored on the Facebook servers. Now I can understand this for a few reasons. It is possible that this is information that can be used by national security. If the user happens to be a person who commits a crime in the future then they have access to this information that they can gather for intel. I don't see how Facebook would use the pictures shared by users to their own benefit. I feel that Facebook more likes to track the "interest" of it's users to sell ads and cash in revenue. If there was to ever exist a security breach I would probably close my account. For every app that exist in mobile devices today they either want you to create an account or use your "facebook login". I always create an account with a dummy e-mail just in case (for ads/spam purposes). I would assume if there was a security breach, all devices or apps linked to that facebook login would be compromised. I personally don't share much on Facebook at all from a pictures standpoint. A few pictures here and there but nothing overly private. If Facebook required a credit card or social security number then most likely I would not even use it. It wasn't too long ago there was a report of Sony Playstation Network was compromised from a security breach stealing more than 60k credit card information. Their network was assaulted I believe 2-3 times and Sony had a hard time winning back its customers. It definitely took a toll on them and people are concerned if they can really trust Sony Playstation network. If Facebook or other social outlets started to request for credit information then I would definitely be concerned. Until then all we can hope for is that we can all just use Facebook for what it is. Which is to find friends/lost family members or just interact with other people from different places of the world. There is too much going on in the world today for someone to waste their energy to try and breach a social network outlet like Facebook. Below is a link to a security breach that recently happened with Facebook.
